Archangel Cassiel

Have You Been Grieving Something You Didn't Even Know You Lost?

September 30, 2026•7 min read

Sometimes an Archangel enters our awareness long before we understand why.

That's what happened to me with Archangel Cassiel.

When I first started working with the Angels, I remember walking into a gift shop that sold Angel medallions, and there was a sign displaying the Angels of the Week, with a different Angel associated with each day.

I was born on a Saturday, so naturally I looked to see which Angel was listed for Saturday.

Cassiel.

That was the first time I had ever heard his name, and I didn't know anything about him.

I didn't even realize Cassiel was an Archangel until years later, when I began working more deeply with the Archangels.

But something about seeing his name that day stayed with me.

And ever since, I've felt a connection with Cassiel—even during the years when I didn't really know who he was.

Can More Than One Archangel Be Associated with Saturday?

Interestingly, in my Archangel teachings, I also teach that Archangel Zadkiel is the Archangel of Saturday, based upon the Seven Healing Rays.

But that doesn't mean Cassiel isn't also the Angel of Saturday.

This is something I think is important to understand when working with the Archangels.

Their areas of service can overlap.

Just because one Archangel assists us with something doesn't mean another Archangel can't assist us with it, too.

Divine service isn't limited in the way our human minds sometimes try to organize it.

And perhaps that's another reason I love discovering lesser-known Archangels.

Each one gives us another opportunity to experience Divine assistance from a slightly different perspective.

Meet Archangel Cassiel

Archangel Cassiel serves on the Platinum Secret Ray, and his twin flame is Archangel Serenity, also known as Archangel Angelica.

Cassiel is associated with the planet Saturn and is known as the Angel of Tears, Time, Temperance, and Solitude.

He offers a boundless love beyond human understanding and can assist us in clearing and dissolving heavy or negative emotional and energetic frequencies, including grief, sorrow, karmic debt, energetic blocks, and deep-seated heartache.

And recently, Cassiel gave me a message that completely changed the way I thought about grief.

A Different Kind of Grief

During a recent class, I shared an experience I'd had during a meditation and asked the person leading the class for assistance in fully understanding the message I had received.

The answer she channeled for me came from Cassiel.

Most of his message was personal to me, but he then shared something with the rest of the group.

And as soon as I heard it, I knew it wasn't only for the people in that class – It was for all of you, too.

Cassiel said, "It is natural to be grieving the length of time that you have felt separate from your true nature."

I felt those words deeply.

Because we talk about grief when someone dies.

We talk about grieving relationships, jobs, dreams, and chapters of our lives that have ended.

But how often do we talk about grieving the time we spent disconnected from the truth of who we are?

The years we didn't recognize our own Divine nature.

The years we questioned our gifts.

The years we believed we weren't enough.

The years we searched outside ourselves for something that had always existed within us.

The years we may have lived according to who we thought we were supposed to be rather than who we truly were.

Perhaps there can be grief in awakening.

Not because awakening is sad...but because once we begin remembering who we truly are, we may suddenly recognize how long we lived believing we were something less.

But What If Those Years Weren't Wasted?

This is where I think Cassiel's association with Time becomes especially meaningful.

We can look backward and think:

I wish I had known then what I know now.

I wish I had trusted myself sooner.

I wish I had listened to my intuition.

I wish I hadn't spent so many years afraid.

I wish I had awakened sooner.

But perhaps our invitation isn't to judge the time it took us to remember.

Perhaps it's to heal our grief around it.

Because every experience brought us here.

Every question.

Every wrong turn.

Every relationship.

Every challenge.

Every moment we felt lost.

Every time we searched for something more.

All of it became part of the journey that eventually led us back to ourselves.

And maybe we don't have to carry sadness over how long the journey took.

We can carry its wisdom instead.

Cassiel's Invitation

Cassiel went on to offer his assistance in clearing this grief.

And his message was beautifully simple:

All we have to do is ask.

He will be by our side as we allow this grief to be cleared.

When I heard that, something shifted within me.

My heart felt lighter.

And even as I share his message with you now, I can feel that lightness again.

Thank you, Cassiel.

Perhaps you're feeling it, too.

A Healing with Archangel Cassiel

If Cassiel's message resonates with you, take a few quiet moments sometime this week.

Place your hands over your heart.

Take several slow breaths.

And invite Cassiel to be with you.

You might say:

Beloved Archangel Cassiel,

Thank you for walking beside me.

Please help me recognize and lovingly clear any grief I carry for the time I have felt separated from my true Divine nature.

Help me release sorrow for the years I did not recognize who I truly AM.

Help me forgive myself for what I didn't yet know, understand, or remember.

Clear and dissolve the grief, sorrow, energetic blocks, and deep-seated heartache I am now ready to release.

Help me gather the wisdom from every experience without continuing to carry its weight.

And as this grief clears, help me more fully remember, embrace, and embody the truth of my Divine nature.

Thank you for remaining by my side as this healing unfolds.

And so it is.

Then simply allow.

You don't have to search for the grief.

You don't have to analyze every year of your life.

You don't have to figure out when you became disconnected from your true nature.

Just ask Cassiel to help.

And remember:

Ask. Allow. Notice.

Pay attention to what you feel in your heart.

Notice what memories arise.

Notice what emotions are ready to move.

And perhaps most importantly, notice what becomes lighter.

You Were Never Truly Separate

As September comes to a close, I've been thinking about the journey we've taken together this month.

We've explored courage.

Transcendence.

Emotional healing.

Grief.

Release.

Balance.

Gratitude.

Blessings.

And now Cassiel brings us here: back to our true nature.

Perhaps the beautiful irony is that while we may grieve the years we felt separated from our Divine nature...we were never truly separate from it.

We may have forgotten.

We may not have recognized it.

We may have looked everywhere else for it.

But the Divine within us never disappeared.

And neither did the love and support surrounding us.

So perhaps we don't need to grieve how long it took us to arrive here forever.

We can thank the person we once were for getting us here.

We can honor everything the journey taught us.

We can release its weight.

We can keep its wisdom.

And we can move forward remembering more fully:

I AM Divine.

Love & Light,

Joelle St. Germaine

P.S. Is there a part of your spiritual journey that you now realize you've been grieving—the time it took, the choices you made before you knew differently, or the years you didn't recognize your gifts or true nature? You don't have to judge that version of yourself. Perhaps today you can simply thank them for carrying you far enough to remember.

P.S.S. One of the things I love about the Archangel Mastery™ course is discovering Archangels like Cassiel and learning that Divine assistance is available for parts of our journey we may not have even realized needed healing. We're not simply learning about the Archangels—we're learning to recognize their energies, communicate with them, receive their guidance, and invite them to work with us in deeply personal ways.
